OnePlus 12 To Feature Sony’s New Lytia Dual-Layer Stacked Sensor

OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 12 will be the first-ever smartphone to be equipped with Sony’s brand-new sensor. It’s the Lytia dual-layer stacked sensor that Sony announced back in June of this year.

OnePlus says, “The new generation of Sony’s Lytia sensor embodies beauty with light.” The brand has also teased that the sensor will open up a new mobile photography future. In other words, the OnePlus 12 is shaping up to offer a redefined mobile camera performance.

More About the Sony Lytia Sensor of the OnePlus 12

The new Sony Lytia stacked CMOS sensor comes with two-layer transistor pixel technology. It features separate layers for the photodiode and transistor layers. This separation allowed Sony to integrate larger diodes. Also, it enables the sensor to capture more light, which is something OnePlus has already teased.

That said, the OnePlus 12 won’t be the only device that will come with the new sensor. Earlier this year, vivo and Oppo also announced their partnerships with Sony. That means the upcoming vivo X100 and Oppo Find X6 will likely come with the same sensor.

Previously, OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 12 will feature the BOE’s new LTPO OLED display. The panel promises to offer over 3000 NITS of brightness. This brightness rating will offer a better viewing experience in different lighting conditions.

Besides, the OnePlus 12 will come with the recently unveiled Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. And for those who missed it, Qualcomm has made significant improvements on the 8 Gen 3. The better-performing chipset could make the device offer the most out of the new sensor and display.

When it comes to the launch, the OnePlus 12 is expected to debut next month in China. The global of the device is set for early 2024. We will update you when OnePlus shares more information.
