Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 FE a few weeks ago alongside other Fan Edition devices, including the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, and Galaxy Buds FE. The Galaxy S23 FE is a cut-down version of the Galaxy S23, and while it might not attract geeks, it could be an excellent phone for parents thanks to the reasons listed below.
Bright and bring OLED screen, clear loudspeakers
The Galaxy S23 FE has a decently large 6.4-inch OLED screen. It is big enough for most use cases, including messaging, browsing, and watching videos, but not too big to become a hassle while carrying, which can be an advantage for older users. The screen is extremely bright at 1,450 nits and features Vision Booster technology, making content visible even in the brightest conditions. Plus, the phone has loud stereo speakers, so calls and media will be heard without issues.

Good front and rear cameras
It is also an excellent phone to capture memories. It has an upgraded 50MP primary rear camera with OIS and can record 4K 60fps videos. To capture all those group family pictures, the Galaxy S23 FE also has a 12MP ultrawide camera. To capture faraway objects or portrait images, the phone has an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS.
On the front, it has an upgraded 10MP selfie camera that is much better than most similarly-priced phones from other brands. It can also record 4K 60fps videos. A good camera also helps with better video call quality when it’s time to connect with family members and friends.
Simple yet tough design
The phone has a premium yet simple design, thanks to its metal frame and Gorilla Glass 5 front and back protection. It also features an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, so there’s no worry of damage if someone drops the phone in water or on sand.
It will work well for years to come
The Galaxy S23 FE has a powerful processor, the Exynos 2200 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the US), which works a lot better in this phone than it did in the Galaxy S22, thanks to a much bigger vapor chamber heat dissipation system. It means the phone is powerful enough to work smoothly for the next few years. Remember, even a three-year-old high-end processor is usually much faster than recent mid-range chips.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 FE with Android 13 onboard and promised to offer four major Android OS updates, and the device will get security patches for five years from its launch. Combine all that and you have a phone that your parents can use for years to come without worrying about serious performance degradation or security risks.
