OnePlus 12 has announced that it is holding an event on December 04, 2023, in Shenzhen, China on the occasion of the company’s 10th anniversary. The poster for the announcement shows Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, standing on a clock and representing a needle that’s pointing at 12. It suggests that the company will launch the OnePlus 12 at the upcoming event.
Considering that OnePlus hasn’t made the announcement on any platform other than Weibo, it looks like this event will be about the China-specific launch of the OnePlus 12. In other words, this event might not be the global launch of the next flagship smartphone from the company. OnePlus might hold a separate event for the global launch of that at a later date.
OnePlus unveiled the current flagship smartphone from the company, the OnePlus 11, in December of last year in China at a special event in the country. A month later, in January of this year, the company held a separate event for the global launch of the smartphone. So, it makes sense that OnePlus would take a similar approach for the launch of the OnePlus 12.
This is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a display with a brightness of 2,600 nits, and an upgraded camera setup. Leaks and rumors also suggest that it will bring back wireless charging, a feature that OnePlus dropped with OnePlus 11. The OnePlus 12 will most likely compete with the upcoming flagship-grade smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy S24+.
