Galaxy Buds 3 and Pro 14

The underrated Galaxy Buds feature that doesn’t get enough attention

Samsung makes some great wireless earbuds. The outgoing model, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, held us over nicely until the new Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 3 were launched earlier this month. These get some of the more significant upgrades we’ve seen yet on Samsung’s earbuds, including an all new stem-type design.

In addition to these changes, there’s a cool software feature on these earbuds, and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, that doesn’t quite get the attention it deserves, but it does make the earbuds a lot more useful, and that’s Auracast.

Bluetooth Auracast on Galaxy Buds deserves its moment under the sun

Samsung’s phones, tablets, and TVs picked up support for Auracast with the One UI 5.1.1 update. It was only possible to create audio casts with Samsung’s premium TVs initially, but that changed when One UI 6.1 enabled Bluetooth Auracast broadcasts to more devices, including smartphones.

Auracast broadcasts allow you to share audio among multiple Bluetooth-enabled earbuds and speakers. This means you can connect multiple pairs of Galaxy Buds to a TV or smartphone and listen together. It’s a great feature if you want to listen to audio without disturbing others in the room, or just want a shared music streaming experience in an environment where you can’t play music out loud, such as on an airplane.

The feature does require initial setup via the Samsung Wear app and the Samsung phone, tablet, or TV that you’ll be streaming the audio from. The exact number of Galaxy Buds that can be connected to a device depends on several factors, including distance and obstruction, but the limit is significant enough for all of your friends and family to get in on the action.

Beyond Auracast, the new Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 3 provide exceptional sound quality, a great new design, and improved battery life. It’s certainly worth picking up a pair to experience the best in wireless audio that Samsung has to offer.
