Samsung has now released the Galaxy Z Fold 4 August 2024 security update in more countries. After the update was released in the US for carrier-locked models, the update started rolling out in several European countries.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 August 2024 security update now available in Europe
The new software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, bearing firmware version F936BXXS8FXG3, has been released in European countries. It includes the August 2024 security patch that fixes nearly 50 security vulnerabilities that were discovered in the previous software. The update doesn’t bring any new features or performance improvements.
The One UI 6.1.1 update, which will likely be released next month, will bring new features. You can watch some of those features in our video below.
If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 4 and live in Europe, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually using the Odin tool. Make sure to back up all your important data and files before initiating the manual firmware flashing process.
What’s next for Galaxy Z Fold 4?
Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in 2022 with Android 12 onboard. The phone received the Android 13 update in late 2022 and the Android 14 update in late 2023. The device will get the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update before the end of this year.
The Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update is expected to bring a major redesign, featuring new app icons, a new design language, a new Quick Panel layout, more rounded notifications, and more impressive animations and transitions. It will also bring new Galaxy AI features to the foldable smartphone.
The Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update will likely be the last major Android OS update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and it will likely be released before the end of next year.
