Samsung launches 122.88TB SSD for the enterprise market

Last month, Samsung launched its 61.44TB SSD for the enterprise market. It was the South Korean firm’s highest-capacity SSD ever. As promised earlier, the company has now unveiled its 122.88TB SSD for the enterprise market. It offers 4.1x the I/O performance compared to its predecessor and up to 45% improvement in efficiency.

Samsung unveils its first 122.88TB SSD for the enterprise market

At the Future Memory Storage (FMS) 2024 event, Samsung showcased its BM1743 Enterprise QLC (Quad Level Cell) SSD for the first time with 122.88TB storage capacity. It is a PCIe 5.0 SSD with sequential read speeds of up to 7.5GB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3GB/s. Its random reads clock in at 1.6M IOPS, while 16KB random writes reach up to 45K IOPS.

The South Korean firm also showcased its PM9D3a PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD for mainstream data centers. It will be available in several form factors and connector variants, including E1.S 9.5mmT, E3.S IT, M.2, and U2. It has sequential read speeds of up to 12GB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6.8GB/s. Its random reads reach up to 2M IOPS, while random writes clock in up to 400K IOPS. Its highest capacity will be 32TB, but in its M.2 avatar, its highest storage capacity will be 2TB.

Samsung’s PM1753 is its current-generation flagship enterprise SSD with support for 16 NAND channels and storage capacities of up to 32TB. It is available in E3.S and U.2 SSD form factors. It has sequential read speeds of up to 14.8 Gbps and sequential write speeds of up to 11 Gbps. Its 4K random reads and writes are claimed to be 3.4M IOPS and 600K IOPS, respectively. Its performance is 1.7x faster, while its efficiency is 1.7x better than its predecessor, the PM1743.
