Update: The one-hour thirty-minute Official Samsung Sleep Rave Track by Mr. Belt & Wezol is now available on Spotify.

Original story follows

Samsung’s One UI Watch 5 update for Galaxy Watches marked an interesting shift in the company’s software design philosophy, particularly the Health platform.

Samsung started paying more attention to sleep tracking and focused some of its marketing campaigns on this side of Samsung Health. The company often talks about sleep tracking and is always looking for new ways to improve this feature and ensure its customers can have a good night’s rest.

Some of Samsung’s sleep-related experimental endeavors are more grounded in the academic world, while others are more lighthearted. And in tune with the latter category, Samsung has just announced the first-ever Sleep Rave in the Netherlands.

Samsung wants to find out if dance music can help you sleep

It’s Amsterdam Music Festival week, and Samsung has prepared something unusual for the event. The company announced it will organize the very first Sleep Rave in the Netherlands with the goal of helping Dutch Gen Zers and Millennials get some rest during the most sleep-deprived week of the year.

Of course, Samsung is putting a musical spin on the whole thing, hence the “Sleep Rave” name. The company is partnering with Dutch DJ duo Mr. Belt & Wezol and independent neuroscientist and sleep expert Dr. Els van der Helm to determine if the music that normally keeps people awake — dance music — can help people get a better night’s sleep.

During the event, which will be held at the Chapel of Hotel Arena in Amsterdam, a select group of so-called Sleep Ravers can doze off in comfortable beds from Swiss Sense and listen to a relaxing eight-hour DJ set created for the occasion. Sleep-related data will be collected by the Galaxy Watch 6.

Now, the great news for people who can’t attend the Sleep Rave and might be feeling left out is that the sleep data collected during the event will be used by Dr. Els van der Helm and Mr. Belt & Wezol to develop “an ultimate sleep music track,” which will be released on October 29.
