Microsoft has launched an application called Windows App for macOS, iPadOS, and iOS. The company has also made this platform available on the web and it can be accessed through any web browser. So, what does Windows App do? Well, it provides you access to Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Microsoft Dev Box, Remote Desktop Services, and Remote PC. Too technical to understand? Windows App allows you to access the Windows operating system from a remote PC or a cloud PC service on a MacBook, iPad, iPhone, or web browser. For example, if you have subscribed to Windows 365, which is a cloud PC service, the newly launched app allows you to access the Windows 11 operating system from the cloud on your device, giving you the ability to access the cloud PC anytime and anywhere.
Currently, Windows App is in the beta stage and you can access it on Apple devices using Test Flight. Microsoft hasn’t provided any information about when the stable version of the app will arrive. Reportedly, the Windows App is limited to business accounts and isn’t available for consumers at the moment. However, that is expected to change soon.
Similarly, Windows 365 is also available only for businesses and enterprises. However, the arrival of Windows App suggests that the company could open Windows 365 for consumers, allowing anyone to access Windows 11 on their non-Windows laptop, tablet, or smartphone, without actually buying hardware to run the OS.
