With the launch of Android 12L, Google promised to improve its apps for foldable smartphones and tablets. The company is following up with its promise and has already revamped most of its popular apps to suit the big-screen devices. Now, Google has released another update to the Google Drive app that makes it better on foldable phones and tablets.

In a new announcement, Google revealed that the Google Drive app now looks similar to its website. Above the list of documents, you can now see tappable links of the folder hierarchy (also known as breadcrumb navigation design used in websites), and it lets you quickly move between folders and subfolders. It also gives you a better idea of where you are in the folder hierarchy in Google Drive. The documents list also shows you the size of each file and when the file was created or edited.

The app now uses the Material Design 3 guidelines for a more modern look and feel. In the grid view, files are previewed in their own cards, as per 9To5Google, which matches with the newest design language that is used by Google in some other apps, including Gmail.

For Google Workspace users, users can take action on Google Drive requests and comments directly in Google Chat. They can take action on Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slide files without leaving the chat. Admins can run full diagnostics to check Google Drive changes and complete file history.
