Samsung SDI booth at EVS37

Samsung SDI to showcase batteries with 20 years lifespan, 9 minute fast charging

At the InterBattery 2024 event last month, Samsung SDI made quite a few announcements. First, it unveiled the roadmap for the mass production of the All-Solid-State Battery (ASB). Second, the company revealed that the ASB has a 900Wh/L density, the highest in the industry. Third, the tech giant showcased the Super Gap technology which can charge a battery from 8% to 80% in nine minutes and offer up to 20 years of battery life, and announced that it plans to mass produce batteries with that charging speed by 2026 and batteries with that life by 2029. Well, Samsung is going to make those announcements and showcase those technologies at another event.

Samsung SDI has announced that it will participate in the 37th Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS37) in Seoul, South Korea, which will be held from 23 – 26 April 2024. At this event, the company will reiterate the roadmap for the mass production of the All-Solid-State Battery, highlight the density of ASB, showcase the Super Gap technology, and restate the timeline for the mass production of the batteries with those capabilities. It will also showcase the No-Thermal Propagation technology which uses vents to exhaust heat and gas arising from an impact or a fire to minimize the spread of thermal runaway, which is something that the brand already showcased at InterBattery 2024.

Considering that Samsung SDI is not leaving any chance to market the upcoming products and technologies, it looks like the brand wants to gather as much attention as possible to increase its customer base. Commenting on the matter, the President & CEO of Samsung SDI, Yoon-Ho Choi, said “Samsung SDI is well on the way to secure key technologies for industry-leading innovations that include all solid-state battery, ultra-fast charging, and ultra-long life battery. With the technology leadership enabled by our ‘super-gap’ technology, Samsung SDI will pioneer the future global EV market.
